I ran out of gas last week on my motorcycle, but i dont have a gas gauge on it so i have a little bit of an excuse. but it was stupid to think i could make it home just on the reserve. i had to push it 6 blocks to a gas station, at least i got it off the freeway, lol.

I knew I needed gas, and was actually driving to the station when it died. I had just enough momentum to get to the driveway of the station, but had to get two guys to help me push it up the driveway to the pump.
I've never felt so silly.
*BTW I drive a 30 year old car, so the gas gauge isn't necessarily too dependable.

It's been years. It's so embarrassing to have to push your car out of traffic or walk to the gas station carrying that gas can that it only took me a few times (haha) to learn not to drive on empty. I was pretty young, though (still living with the parents). About 8.30 one very wet night, twenty years ago. Hasn't happened since, but came close the other day - about 7/8ths of the tank used when I finally found a gas station.In over 42 years of driving, I can't ever remember running out of gas. I always try to refuel when the tank gets to a 1/4 tank.

Boy does this question bring back memories. My best friend and I were driving from Alexandria Va, to Hinton, WV to visit my grandmother. My friend had never met my grandmother, she was 87 at that time. Anyway we were driving down rt. 81 and I stopped at a truck stop that I usually stopped at ( and usually got gas). We were talking so much and enjoying each other that I ran out of gas about 20 miles from my grandmothers home in Hinton WV. It was pretty embarrassing. It was just beginning to get dark and I was so proud of the people of WV. We got a ride down the road about a mile to a gas station, they were very helpful, drove us back, put enough gas to get back to the station and we filled up. So very nice, I've never forgotten it. My grandmother died at 93 yrs. old.one of the reasons my "Danger Ranger" lives up to its name is because none of the gauges on the dash work
