If i choose to do trial-by-declaration, do i still have the option to do traffic school?

i got a ticket in san fran. i want to contest the ticket and i have a witness to back me up. if i lose, will i lose the bail amount? will i still have the option to do traffic school as well? also, for those who have done TBD, any tips for me? thanks.
