Are snow studded tires, illegal on californias highways?

i needed snow tires when we drive up north, because it was icy and snowing. I left them on when we got back home to ventura county, for our next trip. People are saying its illegal is it? it doiesn't say so on the highway patrol website and they are sold in california?

u only really need studded tires if ur in the mountains. to run them on dry pavement tends to rip the asphalt up. in some states, their only legal in the winter months.
