Question:
I would like to know where the most accesible, ample and safe parking is. We are visiting during the International car show, and also, want to know if it will be crowded?
Answers:
I am assuming that you don't spend a lot of time down town, and parking can be an adventure.
The problem is that the People Mover was designed for pedistrian traffic. There are no parking lots for the People Mover Stations. When I take people downtown, and we ride the people mover, I either go to Greek Town (tons of people - safe), or go to the Fort-Cass station (easy to park on Fort).
how do you get to seaseme street?
Probably the safest stations would be Greektown, or Cadillac Center (by the Compuware offices) but once again, it's so easy to get turned around when you look for parking.
Commuting from Letchworth G.C. to Chiswick?
If what you want to do is take a ride on the people mover while you visit the auto show, it would be easier if you just parked near Cobo Hall. There are several structures and lots near by, and they are very safe. The People Mover is just a big loop, and it passes through Cobo Hall. After the auto show, go up to the station, take a lap, then go to your car.
The problem is that the safest places to park are also the stations closest to Cobo Hall. If you do that, you might as well just drive to the Cobo Hall parking lots and structures. It's easier, and there's no difference in the price of parking.
Good Luck
Why do people "drive" in the passing lane?
It probably will be crowded, it is on a normal day. You'll pay for parking no matter what, so you may as well pick one of the small attended lots. There will be at least 2 guys there babysitting about 25-50 cars, one taking $, one directing the parking, whereas the big parking structures just have gates & cameras and 100+ cars. There is a station guide on their website so you can pick a station based on your hotel.www.thepeoplemover.com
