I kind of agree with you - but we all have to learn how to drive in rush hour traffic at some time, roundabouts can be pretty scary places even for some experienced drivers during the rush hour, I would rather they get some experience of them before being let loose on their own.. can't see they are learning much for their £20+ an hour stuck in traffic though ..

Yes, they shouldn't give new learners lessons in the rush hour. One eejit can jam things up for half an hour.

The DSA says that learner drivers should gain experience in all road and weather conditions and at different times of the day, so they have to start somewhere. We were all learners once (except people who decide not to drive of course)

I think they need to experience all aspects of driving.
It is a bit of a waste of money for them though, as most of their lesson will be spent queueing.

we were all learner drivers once & probably hoped other drivers would have a bit of patience with us. They have to get the experience somehow. There are plenty of 'qualified' drivers who should be banned from rush-hour & any other time for that matter!

hey you were a learner driver once, but I bet you were brilliant at roundabouts, lights, etc etc, have a heart , be patient with them .

i am a learner driver and agree.
My instructor kept me on small side rounds untill he felt i was able to handle slightly faster and more busy rounds, even then he kept me away from roundabouts for a bit.

We are all 'learners' every day that we awake. Look at the statistics, if they are true, from a source: Traffic accidents are actually the leading cause of death for those between 6 and 33 years of age. An Attorney Agency makes that claim based on some Actuarial Tables they were allowed to look at.
Bottom line, if the Insurance and whatever other vulture can make more $, the age will go down rather than up.
How experienced is any driver when a 22 wheeler/18 wheeler blows a tyre and flips over at 75mph and you are the driver behind it. Its a pretty good bet that you will die no matter if you are a Mario Andretti or a 16 year old learner.
I was an over the road driver for a number of years, and saw a few no-fault incidents, whenever dead or maimed bodies are pulled from the wrecks, age does not factor in, people are dead or not. Some are young, some are experienced, they are still dead.
I do agree that better Education would be of a help, but we have wars to fight and that is much more importatnt than paying and hireing Teachers the salaries they deserve.
