Question:
All right, I am going to try to pose my question in the confines of math since I feel it helps make it easier for me to ask my question. Now, I am trying to understand how exactly does the fee system work in a cab. Take for example two destinations (let “A” be the starting point, and let the destination be “B“). Does a cab fee cover simply the travel from A to B, or does it cover the total trip there AND back - which would be A to B and B to A?
What is the estimate of gas mileagein a Ford Expedition from Oklahoma City to Los Angeles CA?
I assume the latter because if not, wouldn't the cab always be in a deficit? For example, if I paid X amount of money from getting me from A to B and the travel back from B to A was on the driver’s own expense, then wouldn’t that just cancel out the money/gas earnings s/he just received from me? Understand now that I never ride back with the cab. If a cab takes me home, s/he does not just sit outside my house, s/he has to drive back to destination A. Therefore, does s/he lose out on that pay or is the charging system setup so I pay both ways?
Answers:
If your trip remains within the licensed area of operation of the cab the trip is charged one way, the dispatchers job is to find the cab the closest customer to their current position.
How much does a gallon of gas cost before taxes?
If you leave that area (town to town) there is a flat rate which includes the cost of the cabbie getting back to his home zone.
Why is the right lane the slow lane?
Cab fare is charged by how much time you spend in the car. So you would be charged for the entire trip to and from. The driver won't GO back to the starting point empty. He will pick up another fare as quickly as possible. If he can't get one close to where he lets you off, he may get a radio-dispatched pick-up in the vicinity. You only pay for the trip you actually take.
What do you find really annoying?
yOU pay for the whole trip there and back. That would depend on your agreement ... if the price is right for sure the taxi cab will surely be glad to give you a ride back and forth.
