You need a white noise player or run a small fan, not pointing at you, to mask sound. Put heavy drapes on the windows and close them well. If you want your window open when it is nice put one of those window fans that set beneath the bottom window in and run it all night. My daughter wears earplugs when she sleeps, the foam ones.A good way to reduce road noise is to plant a hedge, or put up a fence, on the road side of your property. They are very useful in dampening the sound of the tires on the pavement, which is where a majority of the 'noise' comes from. Also, keep in mind that weather also plays a role in how much the sound travels. Not much you can do about that.
