Don't know what area of the world you live in, but where I live, transportation is available 24/7. Have you ever thought about taxis? That's public transportation too. What is the cost of gas in Mexico? calif.$ 3.15 per gal.?
That man that said its about the monies tagged it. The Govermemnts make way more monies in tax revenues from Sales of autoes, repair of autoes, gasoline that six cars use to get six people to the same area, those 7%x6x7days a week taxes adds up.We cannot save a planet, but we can make it a nicer place untill we have to leave.
Since we already know there is no money in driving a bus all the way out to the middle of no where to pick up one person, let's look at it from an ecological perspective. How much fuel would it take to send a bus just to pick you up? Would a taxi take less gas than a bus? That is a more ecological method than you propose.
Is advertizing products in the U.S. misleading ?
Your question really shows a lack of understanding of ecological issues. You are using ecology as an excuse to get cheaper transport that is more polluting. A bus is only efficient compared to a car when all the seats are full.
Why is the right lane the slow lane?
Have you ever considered buying a bike and riding to the nearest serviced bus stop? That would be the more ecological thing to do.
