Unfortunately, in London especially at crowded bus stops, There are people specialised in 'Steaming' not only buses but trains/shops too.
Steaming is when there is a crowd of people waiting for buses, or in a shop, and if you open your bag, when you are about to board a bus, or pay for an item in the shop, a person pushes you from behind. Your natural instinct is to turn around, but a second
/third person is already picking your wallet and whatever they can from your open handbag whilst you are distracted and looking behind.It is not only at the bus stops/ train stations but also 'on' the bus/train and within the shop itself.
I cant see into my handbag in the dark, and have to wait til the light in the bus goes on to find my purse,with my ticket in it. How I handle both situations is by asking them to stand aside and allow those who have their money or tickets ready to come forward, they will then get the best seats, leaving the inconsiderate to stand.

A game that is often played is to offer up a $50 note, (a full adult fare is $3.80.) the change I run out of most frequently is 10 and 20 cent pieces, so I always carry $40 of these coins in bags, which I give as change, it's legal tender so can't be refused, but is a pain to change or spend. I always remove the coins from the bags, making it even harder to handle.
If I don't have the change I will pick a bus stop with a shop close to it, and tell them to go into the shop and get change, once their of the bus I'll drive away, why should the rest of the passengers be held up by the tardiness of one?

I agree with the last person - they are idiots and inconsiderate. Sorry to go off topic, but the same thing happens at the supermarket, when people waste my time digging out their pennies searching for the exact change. And they (usually women) don't even bother to open their pocketbook or purse until after they are told the total. And people do this with paper money also. You may not be smart enough to calculate the total in advance, but you should at least be able to make a good estimate and pull out enough cash in advance. When I occasionally want to pay with exact change I at least have a bunch of change in my hand in advance so I don't waste too much time.Do irridum plugs improve fuel consumption?
