I'd say 15% of the bill (same as food service) would work. That's IF you can find a FULL-service station. Clean the front/back windows, check the oil and washer fluids, and check the tire pressure...all worth a tip...especially on those colder days!

Not one thin dime. When you find full-serve stations, they jack the price anyway. Besides, trying to get one of those creeps to come out of their little bulletproof cubicle just ain't gonna happen in California. Full serve is pretty much non-existent. I actually had to wake one of those morons up at 11 PM one night by banging on the glass. Scared the crap out of him, too. The only time you can get someone to pump gas for you is in one of those prehistoric states where it's illegal to pump your own. And those cretins certainly ain't going to check the air, oil, or wash your windows. No.. No tip.

As a former full-service station owner I know what service means. And tips are not necessary, we pay/get paid for that service we provide. If you feel you received EXCELLENT service and wish to tip that is your choice, but it is not required.
Full service means-- Fill the vehicle with the correct amount and type of fuel, check tire pressure, wash windows front and back, check ALL the fluids under the hood, and do it quickly and politely!
