Is it better for your pocketbook to use high octane gas which burns slower then using a lower low octane?

Is it better economically to buy a higher octane gas which burns slower but is more per gallon then buying a lower octane which burns faster but is cheaper per gallon?

you really need to read your owners manual, most vehicles are designed to run on regular gas, plus and premium will make no difference at all. The owners manual of my 02 ford ranger specifically states, use nothing but regular, so why waste the money?

I guess if you want to spend extra money on useless octane in your car go right ahead. If your car does not require high octane fuel (i.e. Dodge Viper) then don't use it. Use whatever grade of fuel that the car manufacturer recommends. Usually Regular unleaded is used.

It depends on your car. It is best to burn the gas it was designed for. Unless you have made modifications such as higher compression that require higher octane.
