The car drivers see the buses as a nuisance because they are bigger than cars and they have to give way to them. They think that if they shout abuse at the bus passengers, fewer people will use the buses and that will mean fewer buses.How many liters in 1 uk gallon?
Unfortuately these motorists are not very bright, because if they did their sums they would realise that fewer buses on the roads means more cars, and that means more congestion, more delays and more hassle finding parking places, in other words all the things they complain about apart from buses.

Basically it boils down to this: Low self-esteem will make people belittle people they think are at a disadvantage, similar to bullies in grade school. They are the ones with low self-esteem so they pick on others to make themselves feel good and important. Sad...really sad.
