Question:
If you get on the freeway and realize that you will be there for a while, due to a major wreck, what do you do? Would you call your boss? What if you are the boss? Will people look down on you for being late? Are you expected to plan ahead for that sort of situation: traffic accidents? Like always leave an extra hour early just in case?
I want courteous answers please...be honest, but don't be rude. Thanks

Just sit back and listien to the radioPeople need to learn how to drive!!! please read EVERYBODY!!!!?
I'd call the office tell them I will be late due to unforeseen traffic issues, lay back, turn up the music, and be happy that my work day will be shorter, and I will deal with whatever comes up from being late when I get there. I don't sweat the small stuff, and enjoy my alone time in the car. Sometimes it's nice to be forced to slow down the pace of my life, because I have trouble doing it on my own. What's the distance for "No Standing" Traffic Sign?
Assuming you live in a metro area that normally has wrecks on the freeway, just call your manager and explain where you are, what's going on with a promise you will be there as soon as you can, and they should understand...Trying to plan a trip..help with mileage?
I would have to say the best thing to do would be to leave home earlier. I've been on both sides of the fence, and ultimately it would be up to you to get to work in a timely manner. I've had some employees always late saying that there is always alot of traffic on a certain highyway, but you can't help but think that they should have left earlier. But then again, there are certain variables that we cannot control, such as accidents and such. Like a previous poster said, listen to a good radio station, and just sit back and relax abit. Getting angry won't help anyone or anything. I would think the best thing to do would be to call your manager/boss and let them know your situation. But as I said before, if you did in fact leave your home earlier, it would look better if you called early and let them know you will be late (rather than calling 10 minutes after you're supposed to be in and saying you'll be late).
With gas prices on the rise, y do gas stations show 9/10 to their price why not round up?

Can a city cop pull someone over on an interstate highway?
Depends where you work and how your boss is. I'm frowned upon for being 1 minute late. No excuses. On the other hand my g/f can be hours late with her job-no problem. Obviously leave with enough time for "yourself" to get there on time on an average/bad day of traffic & so you dont have to drive like a maniac etc. You wouldn't beleive how different traffic is when you are not running late, it's not nearly as bad. I would not be excessivly early just incase an accident holds you up, when traffic is moving that slow a real bad accident is probably not going to happen anyway, it's just heavy traffic- no other reason, like you said. You could learn alternate routes, install a GPS, listen to the radio traffic reports etc- as for what to do when in traffic thats up to you but getting mad doesnt get you any closer to work. I carry a whole stack of CD's - that helps but I wouldn't do anything that causes you to take your eyes off the road. Good luck -What are unbelievable things people do? People honking behind you at ATM's!!?
I am not a boss, thank God, but I leave for work way early because I do not want to sit in traffic. Plus I can clock in early for the O.T. I commute 24 miles one way. If I don't leave by 6, traffic increases dramatically after that. It takes me 30 minutes if I leave at 6, but for every, say, 15 minutes later, the trip is extended by 15 minutes. What I mean is that if I leave at 6 t takes 30 minutes, but if I leave at 6:15, it can take 45 minutes. Everyone, not just the boss, is expected at work on time. It is definitely a bad thing if the boss is late, especially since the boss is expected to enforce company rules on punctuality. "Do as I say, not as I do" is the worst management style on the planet, but it is shocking how many bosses demand respect in spite of this style. It is inevitable that you will be late. if you are, call your boss, and your subordinates. Or at least one of them. That's what mine does. She's hardly ever late, though. You better be apologetic when you get there, too. No excuses. Don't say "Sorry I'm late but it was the traffic" or "Sorry I was late but my dog ate my alarm clock". Simply say "I'm sorry I was late" and stop talking. You've heard the phrase "excuses are like a-holes. Everyone has one, they all stink". The word "but" is the one word in the English language that I hate. It's like you're rationalizing your behavior. You can't plan ahead for everything, but you will notice that there are some people who are always on time because they are responsible and plan ahead, and some who are always late, and they always have a "reason". The reality is that they always leave too late. I have found that leaving early and avoiding traffic gets me to work much less stressed. Battling 24 miles of freeway warriors is no way to start your day. My favorite thing to do in traffic is practice precision diving so that I get the best mpg from my car. It takes my mind off of everything else. I practice by trying not to use the brakes, by attempting to acheive perfect control of my speed, driving exactly by every rule, all kinds of things like that. it's fun and it makes you a better driver.More Questions & Answers ...
