Make sure tires are inflated to correct pressures. Don't overinflate!
Keep the correct grade of oil in the engine I.E. 5w 30
Keep the engine tuned up and a clean air filter.

I drive around in the city 90% of the time, and traffic is always the same. So, i used to get about 15 mpg in my 1997 e320. i used the 44k and it increased to 22mpg. It might be cause i had dirty injectors?
