New York, Boston and Philadelphia have extensive commuter rail systems which keeps thousands of cars from overcrowded highways every day. However, all of these commuters come from the suburbs into the city.

Does anyone know how the traffic from Huntington Beach to Torrance is during rush hour?

What you are describing is a service which goes from Albuquerque to the outlying areas where the jobs are located. Do whatever you think is best for you within your resources. If you already live near a commuter train station, stay where you are. If you'd rather walk to work, move to the suburbs.
