I think it has to do with lower inventory supplies reported as well as the instability with Iran. It will be warmer soon too and when warmer weather appears, more people will want to go outdoors and therefore drive somewhere. So these factors all contribute to the price of a barrel of crude oil going up higher.

They tend to always go up in the spring. In some states they switch to the "summer blend" of gas around March or so. I've also heard that capacity is lower this time of year, generally a lower supply of any commodity will drive the price up.
