On tube trains in particular, when it is busy, why do people prefer to jam themselves by the doors?

Question:
if u get on a tube or overground train in peak time, even though it is busy and there are no seats left, people are still happy to stand in a crush inbetween the doors - rather than move down the isle where there is plenty of space and be more comfortable. Why is that? Also if one person is sat in a "section" of seats, people seem reluctant to sit in any other seat in that area if all the "sections" are occupied and would be happy to stand! WHY?!
I think human phycology and behaviour in commuting and public transport is funny and fascinating so if anybody can come up with good reasoning for this, would be greatly apprieciated.

Stand by the door to get out faster, they don't sit in a section because they don't want to risk be bothered by a talkative person, a stinky person, someone who may fall asleep and use them as a pillow, a farter, any number of reasons.

Which Gender is A Better Driver?

Obvious why - so they can get off quickly when they arrive at their destination. If they move down the aisle they will have to fight to get off, may be delayed, might even be prevented from getting off by press of people boarding. Don't understand that part of your question about 'sections' of seats. If they are all occupied what can people do but stand?
