How long does it take to commute from Baltimore, Md to Alexandria, Va?

I was wondering if it would be feasable to commute from Baltimore to Alexandria. How long on average, and at worst, does it take during rush hour?

Hi. I feel for you. I commuted from Aberdeen to Alexandria (Ft. Belvoir) for 8 months while I was detailed. Horrible! If I left the house after 6 am, it took about 2 hours (in free-flowing traffic, it takes about an hour); if I left the office after 4pm, another 2 hours. The worst part was the 95/495 interchange if I went that direction, or the 495/BW Parkway interchange if I went that direction. The second worst part, and the only part I couldn't possibly avoid, was the Wilson Bridge. Sigh. In the end, I started leaving the house NLT 0430 (no joke) so I could arrive by 0600, get in my 8 hours, and leave the office by 1430 (2:30pm). It was a truly miserable existence.

I'm trying to find the driver that hit my brother on thanksgiving, any investaging tips?

I don't have actual experience doing that commute, but I do live in the DC area and it doesn't sound like something I would like to do every day. You'd probably be looking at about an hour and a half to two hours each way on a trip like that during rush hour. Worse case could be a lot more than that, possibly around three hours unless something really catastrophic happened (which does sometimes). I wouldn't recommend a commute like this unless you really like spending time in your car and are very patient when it comes to traffic.

What to do when you are stuck in awful traffic on your way to work?

I don't know exactly about Alexandria, but my husband commuted to Arlington by public transit (Marc train to Metro) and that took 2 hours consistently. I commuted by car to Dulles and that could take anywhere from 1 hr 15 minutes to 3 1/2 hours depending on the direction and time -- the shortest time being when I left home at 5:45 am, the longest being when I work anytime after 4 p.m.
