Why do so many Desperate Housewife Mini-Van Driving Soccer Moms refuse to drive on freeways?
There is actually a study done on the proper size and positioning of the steering wheel for a bus- I provided the link. Basically a large steering wheel allows for drivers of all sizes- big or small- to contstantly maintain a comfortable sitting position while driving all day. Bus drivers have to sit in a more upright position so they cannot move their seat as much as you can in a regular car. So, the steering wheel must be comfortable to use for people off all shapes and sizes. Nobody wants to drive all day with a bad back or neck!Do you ever feel insecure about driving on the interstate or expressway?
If they lose power ,you can still steer it.Do you wish your salary went up as fast as the cost of gas?
the bigger the wheel is the easier it is to turn the wheel,and it cuts down on over steering also,a small wheel would be really hard to drive on one of them,this is why all the nascar drivers have big wheels also,it helps control over steering,good luck , i hope this help,s.Bus driver's need to be precise.large vehicle/small street.The wheels are large because the drivers need to be able to steer the massive rides into tight lanes and 90' turns.A larger wheel gives better feedback/feel when matched to a steering box that has a wide range.
