What's a good time to drive the 405 to Irvine from Long Beach?

Don't know how I ever lived without it! Tested on local roads I'm familiar with it sometimes suggests a direction I wouldn't necessarily take, but in a strange place who cares if you do a bit of a detour as long as you get to where you need to be. I've been to London, (and travelled around London), and Nottingham since I got mine and no way would I have found my way as easily with a map. Definitely worth the money, my only regret is not waiting for the sales as no doubt it's much cheaper now. Don't hesitate, GET ONE!

What public transportation is available from Sacramento, CA to Richmond, CA?

The only thing bad I have heard about SatNav's is - if you driving anything larger than a car they could direct you onto roads that are unsuitable.
Other than that - I don't know.
We use a map!!!

Which City has the Worst Commute??

Been using TomTom systems for about 3 years on PDA & Standalone TomTom ONE. Never had many issues - but if set for 'shortest route' it will tend to take you down small dirt tracks... not a cheap option to run it, but the savings are made in time & reduced frustration - which can be immeasurable if you are in an unfamiliar area of an unfamiliar city.
