I have a lincoln navigator year 2003 with 59,600 mileage on it. This is a 8 cylinder suv.

I just bought this suv from a private seller and I only drive about 5 miles a day. I put $50 in the tank and it doesn't even last me a week. when I click the info button on my car it says that I am getting only 5.7 miles per gallon. In the manual it says that it supposed to give about 13 miles per gallon. Do you think I need a tune up? what can be the problem? what can I do?

That does sound low. I have the feeling that the short distance that you drive does not allow the choke to open or the engine is not coming up to the proper temperature. What ratio is your rear end? The higher the numerical number the lower the gas mileage. Also running the air conditioner will lower your mileage too. yes. you will need to change plugs , air filter, wirers. that should help alot. i've been in auto parts sales for 15 years. this sould atleast give you 10 more miles to the gallon.How much do you waste on gas a week?

You might try running some injector cleaner through it ( STP, etc), getting a new air cleaner, oil..if you live in a place where it snows, you might need some gas dri (soaks up water in the gas tank and lines...)
