Merging Traffic Question?

Tachos. They all have tachographs and limiters set at different speeds, but want to go as fast as they can as time is money, but with a 1-2 mph difference in limiter settings, it takes an age for them to overtake each other. If I had my way they would all be confined to the inside lane and not permitted to overtake except in emergencies.

Is cars that drive themselves practical ?

Lorry drivers have to plan an overtake well in advance of actually doing it. Most lorries are governed to a maximum speed, but some lorries can attain or maintain this speed better than others. If a lorry has to back off because someone would not let them out to overtake then it could take that lorry a few miles just to get back to an overtaking speed again, and maybe many more miles before an overtaking opportunity arises again. That is why sometimes the driver pulls out and takes a very long time to overtake, he or she has become too frustrated with other road users not allowing them to overtake at a time that was best for everybody. I always look when approaching a queue of lorries to see if one is travelling faster than another and allow him or her out early. This allows the lorry to pass the others quickly. If others at your workplace deliberately and regularly slowed you down so that you could not operate as efficiently as you are able to then you would be pis*ed off too.

Why do people feel the need to ride your a** when you drive?

What, let another lorry get by me easily? It is a test of my manhood that he has challenged to get in front of me, declaring I am not making the time I could. I would run him off the road, but then I would lose my licence and lifelihood. Dumb guy shouldn't have been passing there anyway.

Can u beat this for environmental efficiency?

In the USA where 'lorry' traffic is expected to slow on hills new roadways incorporate an extra lane on uphill portion generally in quarter mile segments every five miles or so to allow the faster
vehicles an opportunity to pass. On 'tarmak' or graveled single lane forestry roads turnouts exist where topography favors the
prospect of two vehicles passing. On steep grades of older
USA roadways it was common to include sandy turnouts acres
that could entrap brakeless runaway vehicles speeding downhill.

How do you calculate how much gas mileage you get?

Because they think the road belong to them.

Can I drive with a junior license after the time limit if I am driving home from work?

What happens is when a lorry is behind another lorry it acts as a windbreaker therefore the lorry behind is slightly faster. When it pulls out the wind slows it down again and it loses momentum. The other lorry doesn't let it overtake because he would have to slow down. So in other words lorries should be allowed to overtake cos they are all governed to do exactly the same speed anyway.

Stupid Qiestion thats been bugging me.?

In theory, all lorries in the UK are restricted to 56mph. In practice, there is some variation. Some will only do 53mph, the lorry I drive at the moment will do 58 (WOW!)

Where can i print a subway train?

If I drive for ten hours (the maximum I'm allowed to do in a day) behind a lorry doing 53 when I could be doing 58, I'll be 50 miles behind where I could have been. This could be the difference between getting home or not (or even getting your stuff to the shops).

Has anyone taken the M.T.A written test ??To be a bus operator? What does it consist of??

As lorry drivers spend all day on the road, most of us are pretty professional, and will try to avoid inconveniencing other road users wherever possible. I do my best to avoid rush hour, when all the idiots are sitting in the middle lane on the phone, paying no attention to what's going on around them.

Fossi fuel is running out. I heard that people are trying to make fuel out of corn.?

Just re-read your question, sometimes I will knock the cruise control back a click or two if someone's struggling to get by and holding up the traffic, but you've always got the outside lane to overtake, lorries aren't allowed to use it.

Traffic Light on Yellow/Red?

I don't drive a lorry but will often let them pull out to let them overtake. I drive as part of my job, Lorry drivers are doing their job. I am working, they are working, showing a bit of respect for other roadusers and we can all get alone better. Anyone on the school run hogging the middle lane needs banning. My wife walks our children to school every day come rain or shine and when I was at school I cycled 2 miles there & two miles back every day regardless of weather.
