It is yet another ill conceived and badly thought through plan of this governments. It's totally unworkable and will affect the economy as a whole.
I drive approximately 45K miles a year on business, often on the most congested routes in the busiest times, who will pay my fee? Not me, my company will, we will then pass that onto our clients who in turn will pass that to their customers, that's you.
It's ridiculous, they need to come up with some proper alternatives rather than more taxes to solve issues like this.
help!
that's my view. I'm broke enough as it is.
It's coming though - inevitable.

Very fair. You pay for what you use.Should be the same with insurance, which I understand is being tried by Norwich Union at the moment.
Is it impolite to ask your neighbor or co-worker to drive you?
good idea in theory ( i mean why pay when you're not using) but like most govenment initiatives, they'll charge really high tolls to make up for the lost moneyWhy do the traffic lights in b.c. Canada flash green? What does that mean for drivers?

Does anyone know the traffic situation on the A38 sbound from derby?
PLUS hows it worked out? on Average miles?
once your taxed on it people will do less miles, thus bringing down the average milage, therefor your taxed high again, then etc etc.
Good idea in theory - just look at the people who would be exempt - doctors, nurses, delivery, sales, business, politicians, police, car sharers, public transp etc, etc.

are the buses on strike in bradford tomorrow?
I think it would be fair for some and completely unfair for others. If you only travel a few miles a week then it'd be good. Little old lady off to the shops on a Thursday afternoon only pays a small amount. This is of course providing that the silly government remove the cost of road tax. And commercial travellers doing masses of miles would suffer and so would we as a result. I think the way to go about it is to increase the difficulty of the driving test. Driving is a privilege and i think it's far too easy to get on the road. If people had to undergo an IQ test and a stringent driving exam then i think we'd have far fewer people on the roads. Making things expensive is just stupid.Terrible. We pay far too much tax in the UK at the moment. Everything we do is taxed. Driving is taxed, flying is taxed, drinking is taxed, shopping is taxed (VAT), even surfing the web is taxed. They'll be taxing fresh air next.
I'm lookging for a gps monitoring system to track my kids driving speed?
road tax should be on the price of petrol say 2p per litre you then would only pay for what u use at least that would ba fair to all and no one would have to worry about road tax but of course think of the money that the courts make out of our fines this will never happenthe unmanagable traffic of a big city?
It is awful!Does anyone commute to Thousand Oaks, CA?
Should be free as in France, their road fund licence, there's a mis-nomer if ever I heard one when was the last time your car tax was spent on funding roads, is free for all vehicles, they only have a disc to prove they have Control Technique, their MOT, which is only every 2 years as well! Rip off BRitain? Of course it is!More Questions & Answers ...
