Well I'm not at all bothered by it - in fact I welcome it - not only am I not stupid enough to attempt driving in the centre of London but you miss that point that band B cars (like my VW Polo 1.2) will be exempt from the congestion charge.Why do some people have nothing better to do than moan about 4x4s?
Why should anyone. The public transport system in London is excellent, I just wish it was like that in every city. Didn't once drive into London when I lived there for two years.The people who are mostly affected by this cost increase can afford it no problem anyway, so if the money received goes into inproving the public transport infrastructure surely this is a good thing.
If other towns/cities follow this model and don't provide good public transport I would expect to see people protesting. This model would only work in London, Glasgow and maybe Manchester - three cities with great public transport links.
What is the average mileage reimbursment for buuness travel now?
I think it's because they have a good level of income & so can't be bothered? If you tried this in Birmingham there would be uproar! Yes it's an unfair tax achieving little.If the Government were to roll it out over the entire country they won't be in power for long! Unfortunately people have already voted in Red Ken & once he became Mayor what he said seems to become law & he did say before he was voted as mayor that he wound introduce the Congestion charge (C Charge), so it is now to late to stop it. Also none of the other candidates will cancil the charge as it brings in so much money. Red ken has now said the he want to role out the C Charge to the whole of London. So Be Warned!

Traffic congestion is a tax on EVERYONE. Thank God one politition has the courage to tackle it head on. If people don't like the policy they can always vote him out and sit for free in gridlock all day. But what sort of freedom is that - especially for those on buses?More Questions & Answers ...
