Okay, I know the old joke about this being necessary "to make a fast getaway." But really, why do people do this? I guess on one hand, I really don't care, except for one particular situation. If you want to be strange and weird, go ahead and be my guest! But if you expect me to sit there patiently for 30 or 45 seconds behind you while you decide to be strange and weird, then why don't you go be weird in a way, or in a time and place that doesn't inconvenience other people?
Who came up with this weird habit in the first place? A bank robber or the Army or somebody who really did "need to make a fast getaway?"

People do this at my train station. I guess they think that parking backwards allows them to leave fastest and beat everyone else to the parking lot exit.

Actually the ones who annoy me are the one that back OUT of parking spaces because they don't pay attention to what's behind them.if you back in...your paying attention in order to get into the space...and getting out is much easier.
