Are you required to take a written and driving test to get my liscense?

My friend jsut recently recieved her driver's liscense. She said she only had to take the driving test, NOT the written part. But, I've been told that I must take a written and a driving test. But, when I took a driver's ed calss for summer school, we had a final at the end, does that count as the written test?

Yes, in most states you have to take both, written and practical. I have not seen ONE state that does not require some type of written. In my opinion, your friend is full of bull.
