Car Insurance agents!?

Question:
I am going out of state and plan to rent a car. I have been driving for 25 years with an excellent driving record. Do I have to have my own Libability and Collision or just Liability in order to save money and refuse the rental agents insurance?

Answers:

Do they give pee tests or hair tests for CDL?

Your own car insurance might cover you. (check it out first) or many credit cards provide that insurance coverage if you use your card to pay for the rental (check that too) If you are covered, decline the very profitable (for the car rental company) insurance.

I am a New Jersey drive, and got a Pennslvania ticket, will my insurance go up?

If you can get physical damage coverage from your regular insurance, it will be cheaper than paying CDW at the rental agent. Don't forget you need liability. a lot of policies will give you liability on alternate transportation but not physical damage or loss-of-use cover. Talk to your own broker before you go to see what he can or can't offer. But do not drive a rental without some kind of cover. Depending on the state, if you have an accident with the car you may find your credit card billed for the full value of the car.
