get insurance under my parents and get the insurance to set me as the emergency driver, but i drive around often with friends not during an emergency. also what if i get into an accident while just driving around while im put as the emergency driver wil the insurance cover my collisions?

Been in the insurance business for a long time now and have never heard of an emergency driver. I am aware of insurance that is available to drivers who have had a d/l for 10 years or longer and no one can drive their vehicle unless they have also had a d/l for 10 years or more except for emergency reasons. Maybe that's what your parents have on their vehicle? If that is the case and you are out just driving around with friends, get into an accident then the insurance coverage will be null and void. Another words your parents will be on their own and that could be disastrous financially.Have you ever taken the council or highways department to court ?
If that is not what we are talking about you must be listed as an additional driver. That's different and as long as you have their vehicle with their permission you will be covered.

Check with the insurance company to be sure, but I would bet you are listed as an "additional driver" and not an "emergency driver".As an additional driver, driving with permission, you will be covered. Unless they have full coverage which includes collision, an at fault accident won't be covered no matter what, so try to avoid trees, buildings, and other cars.
