How can you find out someone's license plate number?

Yes. Most policy's allow for a "permissive user." As long as permission was given for the driver to have the car and use it, there would be coverage.

When are demerit points removed from your licence in australia? When you pay the fine?

Yes, as long as he had permission to drive the veh, then his dads insurance should cover it. Now most company's require that if a person is under 18, and a licensed driver, and living at home they need to be added to the parents insurance. I don't know if this is the case with your friend, but hope that help's..

If I have an suspended license in Pa., can I go to Calif., and get a license without them finding out?

Insurance works like this; liability covers the damage your vehicle does to people and property regardless of who was driving. Comprehensive damage policy covers the primary driver listed on the policy. Now; if, the owner has a uninsured and/or under insured policy; than, maybe - depending on how the policy is written, may cover any driver. Best thing to do is contact the insurance agent and ask questions//make the call because if you don't; even if you were not at fault, the court could assign your dad as risk 22, which means any policy, including the one he now has, will cost triple for the next 5 to 7 years. And could be identified as attempting to conceal a reportable accident; which means possible jail time. Or at the very least, lost of drivers license, and ability to register or re-new registration. No matter how you look at it; it's a risk, so report it and avoid the legal problems that come with not reporting it. Doing it that way the worst that could happen is that the person at fault will have to repay the insurance company. Good Luck.

I lost control of my vehicle and hit a telephone pole. I left the scene to find a telephone to call for help.

If they had full coverage it is possible , if they had liability then it just covers the other persons car . Here if a licensed driver lives in the home then they have to be on the policy, if not the full coverage has the right to not pay , but by law the liability has to pay ..

When u have an insurance claim do they determine settlement by the retail value of your vehicle?

Yes. Insurance always follows the vehicle unless the son was EXCLUDED from the policy.

Do you need a valid G2 Drivers lisence to finance a car? Is it part of the loan process?

claim it but don't lie. if he's excluded on the policy and they claim dad was driving that would be insurance fraud and it carries a hefty fine along with jail time fixing it out of pocket may be cheaper

Does anyone else feel that they are being taken advantage of when it comes to car insurance companies??

If your friend is listed as a driver on his dad's insurance policy, then the policy will cover him. If he is not now on the policy, he cannot claim it through his dad's insurance, period. Your friend owes his dad some bucks for repairs, and possibly a loaner car for dad to drive, he also will be ticketed for driving without insurance, causing him to have to carry SR22 insurance for a period of three years.
