Question about SR-22?

My brother was in an accident and didn't have insurance on his car. If he files for SR-22 insurance will that be able to be used for that accident or will it only affect things that might happen in the future? Thanks

Honestly the police gives out SR-22's but if both parties don't fill it out it wont be on record. I have never filled one out on my wreck and it never showed up. If the offended parties files though he needs to file.

Can anyone tell me about a salvage title?

Okay, first off SR-22's don't offer any coverage by themselves.
The SR-22 is a certificate of financial responsibility. It is a way for your state to know that he has insurance. They are notified if his auto policy is canceled.
Secondly, you can never back date auto policies to cover accidents that have already happened. His insurance is only good from the day he started it forward.
I hope your brother and the other driver are okay. Let this be a learning lesson for him and anyone reading this question, that insurance is very important have and maintain.

Only in the future, the accident already occurred, so he is stuck with whatever falls his way. The SR-22 is not full coverage insurance, it is liability high risk insurance, so keep that in mind if you get in a wreck. By the way, the police do not issue SR-22's, as someone else said, it is handled through insurance companies only!
