When paying the down payment for a new insurance policy, is that considered a seperate payment from the rest?

Question:
If you pay the down payment, do you need to pay any additional payments at that time or wait until the next due date?

Answers:

Royal Sun Alliance.?

The downpayment is part of the premium. Your subsequent installments will have service charges (usually $3-5 each). Your next installment will be the next scheduled (in 2-3 months if you chose 4 installments, next month if you chose monthly, etc). Billing schedules do vary by company so be sure you ASK when the next installment is due. Now, if for some reason, your policy comes in higher than quoted (say you forgot a ticket that was less than 3 years ago - or you thought it was over 3 yrs & it wasn't yet), you may be required to pay some additional premium right away to "catch up" on your billing. If you have a good agent, they will tell you this when they send you your policy - I put that the premium is different right in my cover letter - they don't have to but it is a curtesy. Your agent will check your policy when it comes in to be sure it is correct (coverages came in as requested on the application), but it is also up to you to read it to be sure it is correct. We are all human & it is possible to miss something.

What happens in the state of pa when you have an accident ?

Yes it is. I recently experienced that. I bought a new car in September and got insurance at the same. I went to the insurance company and told them that I wanted to pay three months of insurance at once. They told me ok and then told me my next payment wouldn't be due until Jan. Well, I got a call in December saying my payment was late!! I told them I paid three months in advance and they told me that one of the months payment went towards the down payment! I was so upset!!

Eye question for Driving?

One thing that needs to be clear.
Evryone should UNDERSTAND the poilcy & conditions BEFORE signing anything.
If you dont know about something in the policy, ask. Most if not all insurance agents will accomodate. Now, Some might be blowing smoke up your @$$, but still, ask before you sign.
