If you dont pay your insurance bill and you want to change does it stay on your history like if you were to go get different insurance? I`m with Geico and want to change because it costs way to much but im not sure what i want to do yet all the feedback would be great.

I think they do know somehow, because you have to get previous insurance records when you get insurance with a new company. Also, if you don't pay Geico for long enough, they will cancel your insurance, and then you're screwed from getting any kind of rate at all anywhere...better try to pay it if you can at all...Insurance companies are really overlords of the planet, they rule every frigging thing. :o)

Until you decide, my opinion is to pay Geico so that you have insurance. You don't want to drive without insurance.Find a company you want to go with and obtain insurance on your car. Then you can call Geico to cancel your existing auto policy on the effective date of your new one. Just make sure you have continuous coverage.
You should be entitled to a refund of any unused portion of the premium you paid. Different states and companies have different laws regarding how much you get back. If you really don't want to pay Geico, then you need to make a decision before the due date on your policy so you only have to pay the new company.

Additionally, you might want to ask the service team if you are overinsured. You may be paying for more coverage than you need. I wouldn't recommend carrying the state minimum as it's not usually enough should you hit another car...but if you're carrying 100k in pd and you don't have any assets, you could have too much coverage.
Always, always, always maintain insurance. I've seen too many people who hit another car in the weird little window when they were in between companies, only for them to be totally at a loss when they can't fix their car.

If you don't pay GEICO for a short period of time and don't run out of coverage with them you may be ok. You may want to call GEICO and discuss the limits and coverages you carry, and see if there are any other discounts you can get.
