Question:
The car had an electrical fire causing only minor damage. I understand there are several grades of write off, and it would be a shame to throw away a perfectly good car.
Answers:
Can my insurance rates go up if I report an accident that was no fault of my own?
I am not 100% certain, but I believe you contact the DVLA and you may need to get the car put through some tests before it can be insured again. I may be wrong here because it does depend on the damage to the car, this may only apply if the car is badly damaged structurely and can't be fixed safely. If it was fire damage you should be able to get the car back on the road no problems
