I am looking to buy a car, I had a list of all these cars... but then when I had a quote put on them... I was shocked. I was looking at BMW 325i, Jeep Cherokee, and Mitshubishi Montero... each costing around 2500 for full coverage. What car brand or type would have a relatively low insurance cost for my age and gender group?

You need to be looking more at cars like a Honda Accord - economy cars to get a good price. Make a list of cars then go online & get quotes. Okay I drive a 2006 LR3 HSE.. My insurance is massively high and I live in FL. It's about 3800. (not going to say my age but not into 20s yet if that gives you an idea)
If you want to get low, you're going to have to lower your car company. Try a Toyota or maybe a Honda. You aren't going to be able to get a brand new luxury car for cheap insurance... It just doesn't work that way. Try getting one that's a little bit older.
Also try enrolling in a driving school. Great way to lower the insurance. Also I have statefarm and if you filled out this drivers packet they lowered your insurance as well. There are things you can do to lower it, not sure how much it will end up being in the end.

For luxury vehicles and SUV's the coverage will be higher unfortunately, because you are a new driver. Insurance companies see you as a big risk so they are going to charge a lot more. If you want a nicer vehicle than what the other answerer suggested, why not get the vehicle in your parents name an have them add you to the insurance, you probably won't save a lot but you will save something.More Questions & Answers ...
