A 2 weeks ago My son was hit by a Black Chevy Blazer in a uncontrolled crosswalk and was injured( He's doing better now) and I have received the Police report on the accident. I do not know who was the person who hit him and we have medical bills to pay, the driver was at fault since my son was in a Crosswalk when he was hit but I don't know where to start getting insurance money to pay for the medical bills and other legal processes. Can someone with more experience oh this type of situation please help me out?
*Also there's a recommendation on the accident report that states "Forward to DA for complaint against Driver for 21950 a VC" if anyone is familiar with Insurance language or police code that would also be greatly appreciated.*

Contact his insurance company, or if he had no insurance, contact him directly and tell him you have $XXXX of medical bills that need to be paid. Based on what you are told in that conversation will decide your next course of action. If they are reasonable, and agree to compensate you for your losses, smile. If not, you will have to seek legal advice. Start with your own insurance company to see if they can help you. Contact the insurance company of the guy that hit him. Forward the accident report to your DA (District Prosecuting Attorney). He should bring charges against the driver for hitting a pedestrian. 21950 is the number of a VC (Violation Code). I would sue for damages, medical, lost time from work and mental anguish. You should come out a few thousand ahead if you have a good lawyer. The drivers insurance company should also pay all legal expenses.

ok first off if they have a case and they know the driver then you can get that from the police or the prosecuting attorney (DA)the complaint # you refer to is complaint # 21950 of the year(this means there has been 21950 accidents similar to this...the VC means victim crime. a victim crime..or other wise known as crimes against persons...carries a stiffer sentence than a non victim crime...other wise known as a property crime...the difference between the two is...a non person crime would be car theft without the person getting hurt...a person crime is someone gets hurt. If the police or any other entity has information on the person who hit your son then they have the responsibility to give you the information of the insurance...who the person is and so on.
