A question for uk car drivers. Please.?
The only reason they don't want insurance companies is because a hit and run is criminal even if it was a parked car. I wouldn't do without insurance companies. This way everything is handled between the companies and not you and them. You may have to file a police report as well otherwise all you have is your witness against them. Do not do this on your own you'll get screwed.well if they are willing to pay for make a time limit on when damage is restored and only make it a week or so so that you can still contact the authorities and have the insurance take care of it and don't forget to tell them of your intentions so there is no confusion and then your butt is covered
also if the insurance asks say you were on vacation and your neighbor told you everything when you got back
What should I do about the Road Test?
Get something $$$$ NOW!!!Form used at DMV to change color of car?
People who offer to pay out of pocket usually wind up sticking you.
How long must i have my permit if i am 17 and a half?
If you have a neighbor that saw this, and can testify to it. You would be better off asking the responsible party to pay up now. If they refuse or provide some lame excuse, contact the police and have an accident report done. This will at least get something done to the responsible party, and the hit & run claim will be your method of filing on your insurance.
How much insurance should I have on a 12 year old car?
Otherwise it will turn into a he said/she said claim. DO NOT WAIT !
How dose a lein on a title work?
I would not wait. I would call the police today, get a report filled out with your good neighbor as a witness. File a claim to your insurance reporting it as a hit & run.As stated by another answerer, people that say they want to take care of the damages without involving the insurance are scam artists. You will be forever kicking yourself if you wait.
Insurance companies may refuse if you file at a later date.
I have to go with the others on this one. Report it to the police (they may not issue a report since you waited this long) AND your insurance company.
I got a speeding ticket...is there a way to get around my insurance company so they dont find out?
The biggest problem in cases where people say they will pay for it themselves is that they have no clue how expensive auto body repairs are. When they see the estimate most of them have a stroke and either turn it into their company or just vanish.
What steps do you take after a car accident?
If you have collision coverage and can afford the deductible let your company pay the claim. Then they will go after the other person or their insurance. That way you don't have to do all the dirty work.
If the at-fault party doesn't stroke out at the amount of the estimate and they still want to pay, make sure they pay you with a certified cashiers check. DO NOT accept personal a check. Personal checks have a nasty habit of bouncing in these situations.
In most U.S. States the at-fault party would also owe for a renal car while your car is being repaired.
Good Luck
What do I do if a car I want to buy has no title?
NO...turn it into your insurance company for a host of reasons. First, the guy could say he'll pay and then not (after all, he did flee the scene), second, there could be hidden damage & he can be a jerk & say he's not gonna pay (even though he's responsible for it), third he'll most likely give you grief when you ask for a rental car. Additionally, chances are the guy isn't insured (after all, he did flee the scene) and you may be entitled to benefits under your insurance policy.Out of town, lost drivers license!?
By turning it into your carrier they'll make sure all the damage he's responsible for is repaired and they'll go after him to get the money back. Be prepared however to pay for your deductible.
