Ok - I've just brought a motorbike from a dealer which i will be collecting on Thursday.
The bike is currently not taxed.
2 Questions -
1 - Am i allowed to pick the bike up and drive it to the post office to tax it ?
If bumper stickers are true and your car is unmanned in the Rapture, can I have it?
2 - How do i tax the bike if i don't have a Tax Renewal form ?
Do you need a license to ride a dirt bike in ny?

1, No your not allowed to ride it anywhere without tax, using a vehicle with no tax is illegal there are no exceptions. 2, You dont need the Tax Renewal form, just take your insurance, V5 document (or the one for bikes) and MOT (if bikes have one!) just as you would taxing a car.
Yes you can drive it to the post office aslong as you have insurance. Take a copy of your insurance certificate with you and you will be able to get a form at the post office.

You can pick up a Form in the Post Office to tax it - this is in place of the Renewal Form the DVLA send out.
When I bought my last bike (and car for that matter) the dealer did this for me (adding it into the price) as they have all the documents to do it before you pick up the vehicle.

If your dealer won't do this, you'll have to take the V5 you get from them and walk to the post office before you ride the bike. I'm not aware of any official period during which you can use the vehicle untaxed (and most insurance policies specify you must be Taxed and MOTd for the policy to be valid). As mentioned in a previous answer - you don't need the tax renewal notice, so long as you have the V5 and the MOT.

yaff's got it exactly right. There is no "grace period", it must be taxed, insured & in possession of a valid MoT (if required) as soon as it leaves the forecourt.
