Car Insurance?

Question:
Do you have to be 18 to get your own insurance policy? I have my license, and I got a job and just got my own car and I was wondering if I could get my own policy since my mom doesn't drive and my dad lives out of state.

I had a policy when I was 17. Check around, make some phone calls. The best way to learn something is to ask. I recommend State Farm personally. I am 19 and they are pretty fair compared to others.

Anybody here want to get screwed by an insurance company?

As an insurance agent, I know that you can recieve your own policy. It will just be written as a high risk policy and have to placed with a secondary company, meaning it will be more expensive than if you were on a parent's policy.
