I live in Los Angeles and I am leaving the country for 6 month. Can I stop insurance of my car as no one will drive it? In case of theft how can I get it covered? Would the house insurance work in that case?

Heres another crock of feces, about car insurance!?

The only way your car is covered is if you keep auto insurance on it. Homeowners will not cover it...that's why it's called HOMEowners.

Sold car to friend , car was impound while still waiting to register car. Do I have to pay the fees.?

You should be able to call your agent and have a 'hold' put on your auto insurance. This will allow comprehensive to stay in place while all other coverages will cease until you reinstate them.

How long does 3 points stay on your licence for?

i would still keep your insurance for the simple reason is that when you come back and get insurance, they will charge you like you never had car insurance before. if you have full coverage then drop everything except comp. that will cover you in case of vandalism or theft. ask your agent.

If a person buys a car in Florida for someone living in Indiana do they have to have Florida license plates?

The theft coverage comes from Comprehensive coverage being on added to your policy (it's also known as OTC - Other Than Collision). Some companies will let you have only comprehensive on a car if you're going out of country for a while.

If youre current company won't let you do just comprehensive it's doubtfull you'll find a new company which will let you do comprehensive by itself.

What is the best way to look up a license plate number?

You'll probably find you have two options: 1- go naked, no coverage whatsoever and take your chances or 2 - put the car down to the absolute barest minimum of coverage. Option 2 is probably going to be better than option 1 since when you come back to the country and go to get insurance it's probably going to raise your rates because you haven't had continuous prior insurance (insurance companies like that sort of thing).

Car insurance question?

Different companies and different States handle this differently. Some States require you to turn in your vehicle tag if you stop the insurance for a period of time. Some insurance will put your insurance "On Vacation" if you are not going to be driving it and some will not.

The question of theft gets a little bit sticky with a vehicle. If it is on the property and in a locked garage your house insurance would probably cover it. If it is out and accessible the house insurance might not. Check with the insurance agent.

I am 16 and my driver permit has expired do I have to re-take the test again in Tenn.?

If you cancel, and the car burns up or is stolen, you are not covered.

Wohooo!!I've just passed my driving test! Can i drive without my licence cumin thru?

The insurance company, when you call them, will let you know what they do. Usually, they keep insurance on it but at a much lower price. Just in case a tree falls on it, etc. No, house insurance would not work in this case.
