Question:
I have been with State Farm for years. I let them withdraw from my checking account over $300 dollars every month for coverage I agreed to. Now that we had to use our comprehensive coverage due to vandalism, they decide to reduce my coverage! They take your money but when you make a claim they punish you. Now they take a whole $6 less a month for our insurance but gave me a $500 deductable because of severe hail damage to my one vehicle & because someone decided to pour paint solvent on my new '07 Yaris while I was at a basketball game watching my daughter cheer. Who is out there standing up for us little guys who is charged through the nose for services & then punished when we need to use it! Who is out there standing up for us little guys when gasoline is falling a barrel, but now for any reason the idiots charge $2.50 a gal. of gas! I think I'll through my hat in the ring & run for U.S. president. I would stand up for the little guy!
Answers:
Just because you file a claim they can not call you and say, "Oh we're reducing your coverage." They have to abide by the the policy as it was ON the date of loss. Additionally, they can't alter your policy without your express authorization. As for your deductible...that's the amount you agreed to pay towards repairs before State Farm stepped and paid anything else. As for the $6 less.is it likely your premiums dropped? This does happen.
Can the passenger in a car without insurance get into trouble?
But then again, nothing State Farm does surprises me. They wrote me 2 renters policies, deducted the money out of my account monthly twice, and when I asked my agent about it...he told me I was nuts and to go elsewhere. Yet when I called the actual company, they discovered the error & immediately fixed it. I still dropped them.idiots.

If you aren't happy with the coverage state farm is giving you, ask them to put it back as it was, or change companies for someone you are happier with.Or, drop to just minimum coverage, and put the difference in the bank in a good savings account and pay for your own damage when needed.

Before you take your hat off, it's "throw" in the ring, not "through" in the ring.

I'm sure that State Farm policies vary from state to state because of each state's insurance laws and regulations. I've been with State Farm for 7 years and have never seen them just increase someone's deductibles on auto policies because of claims. I've seen people be dropped because of claim frequency and when we've called and asked our underwriters if there were any way we could prevent this from happening, sometimes they say that if the person agrees to higher deductibles, they will retain the policy. I have to believe there was some acceptance of the $500 deductible on your part. Agents and underwriters don't just change coverages on your policies without you agreeing to it.What you have to understand is that even though you've been with a company for years, your risk level could change. It's not a "punishment". Insurance is all about risk. The people who are higher risk will have to pay more in premium. Higher deductibles can mean less of a monthly premium but its because you are absorbing a larger part of the risk.

You are such a p*ssy whiner. Why don't you self-insure if you have such a problem with insurance companies? -- Oh, I forgot...you don't have $500,000.00 set aside to cover the damage and injuries to the car you may hit next week.Damn liberal.
