Question:
After complete the traffic school, somehow the DMV-California did not dismiss my ticket. Until my insurance renewal coming up, they notified me of this ticket, I immediately sent the correction form to DMV to correct this and also sent a clarification to my insurance to explain this matter. My question is does my insurance can take this misshape by DMV to raise my premiums?
Answers:
Who's insurance rises when someone gets a ticket in your car while your not driving?
Insurance companies look at your driving history in the last 3 years (sometimes 5 yrs and definitely 5 years for any MAJOR incident such as DWI, driving without insurance, excessive speeding, etc). You weren't clear, will the DMV credit you points or actually delete the ticket from your record? If they only credit you points, these are DMV points & have nothing to do with insurance surcharges. Insurance will surcharge for the actual ticket, not how many DMV points show for the ticket. So, if the ticket still shows, your policy will likely increase for 3 yrs. If the ticket is DELETED, call the DMV, find out when it will be deleted, wait a few weeks (sometimes the "paperwork" takes a while) & call the insurance to pull another motor vehicle report (MVR) on you. If your record shows clean, then the insurance will go back to what it was before. They should credit you all the way back to the date they added the surcharge. The insurance company will use the info provided by the DMV and adjust their rates accordingly.
Pro & Cons of joint car ownership. Insurance implications?
With this ticket-on your record-yes your insurance company can raise your insurance rates. If the ticket is removed from your DMV record, it shouldn't cause your insurance premiums to go up. Take care.I lost my NC issued car title. Can I get california DMV to issue me a new title?
As an insurance agent, I can tell you that your premium is based in part on your driving record from your CLUE report, which is nationwide. If something shows up there, your rate will be affected. If it comes about that it was a mistake, your premium will probably not go back down where it's supposed to be until your policy renews. A mistake on your CLUE report can take quite awhile to be fixed.YES they can as they receive their information on your driving record from the DMV. It is up to you to make sure your driving record is accurate.
