Bring with you all the documents of ownership and they'll sort it all for you. There is a fee for transferring the paperwork..and you have to buy the tax disc at the time of registering.

You'll be given the opportunity to keep the Irish plate or have it re registered with a UK plate.

The only hold up is that you'll have to wait for ownership to be verified. The DVLA will contact the Northern Ireland office to check that the previous owner has passed ownership on. Once that's sorted, they will send your tax disc out and then you're all legal to drive.
