Will my insurance rates increase if I was a victim in a hit and run?

Question:

Answers:

Aren't I eligible for an injury claim if my vehicle is covered by the driver who hit me insurance co.?

NO, as long as you have collision coverage.. If you don't then there isn't anything they can help you with anyways.. Generally the only time your rates should go up if if your in an accident, and are at fault, and the damages are above 1,000.. If the damages are less than a 1,000 your rates should stay the same.. If your in an accident, and aren't at fault the damages could be any amount, and your rates should stay the same... Unless of course your accident prone, and have 20 claims in a month then they may increase... Also if you didn't file a police report for the hit, and run, most likely your insurance company will require it...

Whose fault is it?

Sad but true, many insurance companies don't go by who was at fault anymore, just how much they have to pay out. Sucks huh? Hardly worth the premium we're forced to pay if they're going to penalize us for using the insurance we have in case we need it!

In the state of CT. do you insure the car or the person driving it?

Usually no. If you notified the police and there has been an accident report filed it usually does not affect your premium.

I live In CA my neighbor hit my car and said she would pay now she wont. How do I take her to court?

Not in Tennessee, but not sure about no-fault states.
