I am going to get points for driving?

I got done last year for speeding and I decided to challenge it in court because of the circumstances. Does anyone know if the points are added, do they go on at the time of the offence or at the court date?

I would think the court did it, if your not sure thou, contact the official people and see what they say. Good luck in court.

They are not added to your record until you are convicted or plead guilty/"no contest" and pay the fine.

The conviction stays on the record that the insurance co uses based on date of conviction... so delaying the conviction does not change the number of months that it can affect insurance cost.

The points are added when you are convicted. Sometimes, you get a lenient judge who will only levy the fine, and nuke the point(s). But again, the points are a term of the conviction, not the process.

The court take your licence and add the points, it will then say on your licence date of offence and date of conviction and the number of points you get.

court date if found guilty! makes sense as you have been driving free of points since the offence!

If you lose your case, that's when the points will be added. Plus, you may have to pay costs as well.
However, if you have a good case against the prosecution and a good lawyer, and you ge found not guilty, you should not receive any points.
