OK, my fiance just got a letter from an insurance company saying that they are looking for reimbursement damages. that is like SIXTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS!. can he file bankruptcy and put that in there?

This is common when there is an accident and the other driver's insurance pays for their damages and they do not feel their driver was at fault. They probably do not know who his insurance company is, so they sent him their demand letter. He should immediately give it to his insurance company - I am assuming he has already reported it to them. If he has not, that is another issue alltogether. Or, if he does not have insurance, he will need to pay this out of pocket. He will need to contact their insurance and work out a payment plan with them. I would check with someone who knows better than me, but I do not think it will affect his credit if he works out a payment plan and sticks to it. I would NOT try to file bankruptcy for this. The bankruptcy will affect his credit for MANY years - much longer than what it should take him to pay this debt. Remember, once you get married, his credit score affects you too!

I don't think he can, I was told i couldn't from a law office,But then again i gave up, They said you cant file bankrupsy on Accindent, child support or taxes. Im screwed in all three!!
