As long as the car has a valid MOT certificate, and a valid and displayed tax disk then as long as u r telling the truth that ur car is insured but docs in post then its perfectly legal to drive as u will get 7 days to produce ur docs, u must show ur valid tax disk on screen as it is an instant nick, none of this tax in post as u can get ur car taxed easily in same day.Does anyone know what happens when you get into a car crash and?

I'm afraid your car may not legally be on the public highway (and that includes parked at the side of the road) without valid tax, a valid MoT if it requires one, and valid insurance. DON'T, as someone has already pointed out to you, keep your documents in the car - that's a gift to a thief!
