I s it true that you have to be driving for 2yrs before you can apply for HGV licence ? also do you have to?

A paper driving licence holder will automatically be sent a D46P application form 90 days before their 70th birthday from the DVLA so maybe it got lost in the post so contact DVLA for a new one, no medical is required.

Very likely he will be required to re take both written and driving tests. I honestly think the State purposely doesn't send the renewals (leaving it up to the 70 + seniors to have a keen mind and know that it is time to go pay the renewal. I think the State is trying to weed out the old timers. Just my opinion.

Need help w/ the car insurance thing?

My uncles licence expired when he was 58. He only discovered this on his 59th birthday. He has just sat his theory test and will have to sit his practical again to renew his licence. If he know earlier he would have been ok.

Please Help!?

The licensing office would mail his renewal to his last known address on record. If he moved and failed to notify the agency of his new address, that's his fault. Also, the individual is always the responsible one when it comes to renewals/getting tabs etc. You are expected to know by looking at your license when it will expire. Since it has been some months ago, I think they will make him test again. If it had only been a month, they probably would let it slide, but too much time has passed. A driving test may be required as well, depends on the state he lives in.
