What should I do about Car Insurance in New Jersey?

Question:
I live in NJ. I am 19 years old. I have had some problems in the past with my license. I have hit 2 Deer, had 2 2-Car Accidents, and have 3 Speeding Tickets. There was a period of 90 in which my license was suspended for these violations. I have been clean for a year now. Allstate has jacked my premium this year from $6K to $8K for 6 months. I wanted to change insurances. I tried to get Geico and Esurance but they won't insure me, even with my granddad on the policy as a primary. Esurance was going to cover me on Sunday along with my granddad, but today I called to give them my credit card # and someone different from the person I originally talked to on Sunday said that they cannot insure me. I have been without Insurance for a week now b/c I thought I was going to be with Esurance. What should I do now? How bad is it that I have been without insurance for 5 days? Should I go back to Allstate? Another thing I was thinking was dropping my insurance all together.

What's the best route to take wiht traffic ticket for not coming to a complet stop at a stop sign?

Of course no insurance company wants to touch you, you've had 4 accidents and 3 tickets and your only 19. My first suggestion would be to drive more cautiosly and defensively. Take a defensive driving course. I was in the same boat when I was 19... Only I had 1 ticket and 2 accidents.
You can drive your grandfathers car with his permission as long as the car is insured, and your driving with his permission (and you have a license). Insurance companies insure the car, not the person. Only problem is if the insurance company finds out you are driving his cars (if you get a ticket or accident).. they will drop your grandfather. I would not suggest this.
If I were you, I would get a cheap old car and insure it with liability only. Keep your nose clean and after 3 years, and your insurance rates with go down.

I want to buy a car but...?

Perhaps you need to get an SR-22 in order to get insurance. I know when I got in trouble years ago, I had to have an SR-22. Not sure what all it does, but it did cover me. Also, DO NOT DROP YOUR INSURANCE. This can only lead you into more trouble. I know you think that you will never be the cause of an accident again, but what if next time, its not your fault? THEN IT WILL BE BECAUSE YOU DON"T HAVE INSURANCE. Keep paying the high premiums, I promise, as long as your careful, it WILL get better.

Why does the BMV request that you have insurance, yet they don't verify that you really have it?

There are many companies that offer affordable insurance to people with bad driving records. You may want to try getting a quote online. I am paying less than ½ of what I was before.

I lost one of my plates during a car accident. Does anyone know how to get a replacement? The website is down.
