NSW Australia, I was in an accident that was my fault with no insurance.?

Question:
I was in an accident that was my fault. I only have Compulsory third party insurance but I didn't have Third party insurance. So I will have to fork out the costs myself from my own pocket. I was wondering if anybody in NSW has been in this situation could tell me what payment options the insurance company gives you when paying the bill? DO they let you have a payment plan? do u have to pay it all at once? any info would help.
