Is there a rental car company that won't charge me an horrible price because I am 22?

I am 22 and am flying home for a friends wedding. I wan't to rent a car at the airport but everyone wants to charge me $25 a day extra because I am under 25. Thats more than the actual rental fee itself. Anybody no a company that dosen't do that?

In Australia none of the big companies will do that. All insurance companies know that drivers under 25 (especially male drivers) are a risky proposition and they charge the risk accordingly (some companies won't hire you a vehicle at all unless you are over 25).

In Australia we have places like "rent a bomb" where you can rent older cars for cheaper, although I don't know if they have age limits as well?. You will almost certainly have to go to a 'second tier' hire place and you are unlikely to find those cheaper places renting from the airport anyway. urrrgh. good luck

Bottom line they don't want to rent to you at all, your age group is very high risk especially if your are male. So they will charge a huge premium and hope you go away. I can't think of any of the larger companies that will cut you some slack and that's all you will find at the airport. Might want to consider looking for a smaller independent company in town but is it worth the hassle?
